Not enough financial aid?

My mom had a joint tax return with my father for 2006 but they are currently separated and i only live with my mother. They said they would only use my moms since i live with her. In my application it says Mother’s/Stepmother’s 2006 Income Earned from Work: $33497. She has no exemptions or anything like that. They only rewarded me 365 dollars. Not even enough money for one class and a book for that class. Is this information correct?

Go and talk to the financial aid office at your school. There may have been some sort of mix up. Was the award for $365 at the school you are currently attending? What is the Cost of Attendance at your school? Did you report any income for 2006? How many classes are you registering for? All of these things can have an impact on your financial aid award. Even if the award amount doesn’t change, your financial aid office will be able to help you find other options to help you pay for school. Good luck!

I don’t know where you applied but there is grant money and loan money the amount you can applied for depends on the course that you are interested in. The income is taken from her adjusted gross and it may be enough for both you and your mother so there is no grant money. Go on line and complete a application with FMU you are not under any obligation. They will run a analyst report and let you know what you can get if any. Most of these loans have 10 year pay back depending on the course, you can also take classes on line. There are many avenues for you to apply for student aid whether you have to pay or not..
