Is a dorm room too much for a 37 year old?

Me and 2 friends of mine are going to a big university next year after we get our associates from a small community college and we r all around the same age. Should we get a dorm room or just try to rent an apartment outside the school somewhere. We are married and will be staying there only 3 to 4 days a week then back home again.I was just looking for some advice. I think Maybe I am just too old even for a private dorm room? any suggestions from anyone?

I moved to another city and state to attend Bible college at the age of 35; I was single. The first semester I had a roommate. That was a trying experience. The second semester I had a private dorm room. It was very hard for me to adjust to living on campus and being around 17 and 18 year olds on a daily basis–even with a private room. (The school had a rule that you had to live on campus if you were single and had no family to live with in the city even if you were older.)

There were other students on campus my age and older, and they did not seem to have a problem adjusting, so I think it has a lot to do with your tolerance level, ability to adapt, etc. If it’s the cheapest alternative, then I say go for it. Sometimes dorm rooms can be cheaper than off campus housing and vice versa.

This is my opinion: The dorm environment is meant to foster kinship with the new students for the most part. The connections made there are to assist those that are just out of high school to learn about responsibilities of living on their own and to make ties for future years to rent apartments.

I would suggest that you and your friends just get a cheap apartment. If you shop around, you can find apartments for much less than the dorms. You have the abilities and maturity to understand what comes along with an apartment and living on your own, and you have two others that seem to be willing to share it with you.

If you are only going to be there three or four days a week then no. I would suggest getting an apartment. They are actually usually cheaper then a dorm. You can also see if your school has off-campus apartments that you can apply for.

This is a simple math question. Check to see how much it would be for these four suggestions.

How much…

to rent an apartment per month then add up year.

for a dorm room for semester/year.

for a hotel/motel for 4 days a week for semester/year.

or maybe someone would be renting a room/rooms to students. See how much that would be for semester/year.

Then choose the cheapest one. Save as much as you can!

If you are commuting, you may still want one. The dorm would probably not be covered by financial aid, if you are married, but I would go with whatever is cheapest. -s

today the age is stopping being an important category in marketing studies; you must do what you feel in your heart. it will be a beautiful experience to be in contact with with companions
