Check with your FAO to see what the refund is for. Is it a grant? A loan? You might have signed for student loans and not know it. Alot of FAO’s have you sign papers and you don’t know it’s a loan. You can call the loan locator department with the Department of Education at 1-800-433-3243 to see if you have any federally guaranted student loans (however this wont let you know if you have private student loans) Or just call the FAO they will know for sure. But if your school is like most it might take awhile for u to get an answer. Your school may also have a website that you can get all this info on about all the funding you are recieving.

The money that you got is part of your financial aid package. You will have to pay the money back eventually, but you can use it towards whatever expenses that you have now, like housing and stuff.

Contact your financial aid counselor. They will be able to tell you. If you have to return it, then at least you didn’t spend it!
