Hello!!

I’ve got a bachelors and masters degree.

To earn them and support myself, I worked two jobs for most of my undergrad and worked or went to school (no days off) every single friggin’ day for something like THREE SOLID YEARS. (Yes, I’m talking working on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and never received a dime of holiday pay or a bit of it).

What kept me going? Working every single friggin’ day for something like THREE SOLID YEARS for 5 bucks and hour!!

Getting your degree is not going to be easy, but the rewards are awesome. I have a job where I get Christmas break off, Thanksgiving break off, plus 4 weeks paid vacation a year…. It was well worth the Ramen noodles, no cell phone or a decent wardrobe, the sleepless nights, the long commute…. Every time I hear a coworker complain I just smile and think of my college days.

If it were easy, everyone would do it and nobody would need it.

Don’t give up, you can do it!!!

Yes it is…. I succeeded by not partying, and I didn’t keep many close friends. I did the partying and friends thing my freshman year, and quickly learned that I wouldn’t make it through school if I continued, so I quit “cold turkey.” I felt the same way in school. Just keep on truckin’. It’s only 4 years. Think of your classes as a game, that’s what I did. If you act like you’re competing, you’ll care more about your grades. Get your homework done no matter what, and start ahead of time if possible. Stay up late to finish papers, and take naps whenever you get a chance. School is the most important; once you have that degree, no one can take it away from you. Once you get in the real world and have a real job and bills to pay, you will wish that you were back in school. Trust me.

I didn’t…I got horrible grades while I was going to school full-time and trying to work as well. I took several years off until I was very motivated to get done with my degree. Then I went to school part-time, taking classes mostly in the evenings. It seems to go slow when you take only 1 or 2 classes each semester. But I was able to focus on those classes and I graduated with a 3.94 GPA.

Otherwise, if you really want to work and go to school at the same time, find a job at a security desk or an overnight nursing home or group home, where you might have time to do your homework on the job.

well i think u need 2 understand dat there is a time and season for everything.there is a time to sow and a time to reap. think of d us soldiers dat are deployed for 15 months and leave wife, kids, family and friends. Even school work undone. There is no other easy way out. except you have a sponsor to carry the weight of finances. Training yourself is not easy. think of it as a mini deployment.cut down on your pursuits of pleasure. have a stable girlfriend. go out less. party less. reduce your rent by sharing it with people. it is only for a season. be willing to make sacrifices!! there is no temptation brought our way that is too hard to overcome.have friends that are more school minded.cut doown on relationships that will put undue pressure on your studies.
