it’s a. 4-b

it’s because when they say difference between two numbers, they say the first number first.

if it’s b-4, they would say, “the difference of b and 4”

It really doesn’t matter, because addition is communitive. I prefer 4 – b= X, but that’s just me, I like to leave the variable on the right, saves the extra step of multiplying everything by -1.

a. is right because in the question the 4 comes before the b and you know that difference means subtract. i know this because math is a strong subject for me and right now im takling Calculus and im in the 11th grade.

the version between the variety a and thrice b is comparable to 12 the version between the variety a and thrice b = 12 the version between the variety a and 3*b = 12 the version between a and 3*b = 12 distinction IS SUBTRACTION a – 3*b = 12
