How can I convince my mom too get a part time/ regular job?

I want to make enough money before college for just in case. My mom says I have all the time before I start college, I’m trying to get some type of scholarship but if that back fires I want to save some money to pay for college and to visit a friend. I don’t want my mom to pay for everything, and I want her to see me as an adult(although I’ll be 17 when I start college, my birthday is late). How do I convince her that I want to make some money before college?

What I did was to get some temp job as admin assistant in the office. Giving tuition to the younger kids can also be your option if you are able to teach them.

As for saving part, the bank interest rate is rather low IMHO. However, that’s one of the ways to put your hard-earned money in and to gain some interest per year.

Although you have all the time before you start college, it’s still good to start saving the money for it and I admire you for wanting to start saving up now. College fees increase every year, so, tell you mom that. She may not be able to pay for it by the time you start. I know mine didn’t have. I had to work before I could pay for the fees myself.

Maybe talk to her about this? I’m sure her main concern is that your grades will drop if you have a job and she wants you to enjoy your youth while you still can.

Tell her you want to take on more responsibility and of your concerns. Make out a schedule of your time to show her that you will still have time to study too.

I’m sure she’s very proud of you for even thinking along these lines of responsibility. Just talk to her about it!

tel her you’ll only work on Fri, Sat and Sun I did that when I was a teenager and it didnt interfere with my school work. Most places will hire you fr only those days cause a lo of full timers don’t like to work weekends. Good luck! It worked with me…
