Does anyone have any advice on how to find more money for college?
I’ve gotten financial aid before, but I’m afraid I may have defaulted (lay off at work last year really killed me!). What should I do, and now since my credit kinda sucks, is there any hope for college now? Or am I gonna have to try to clean up my credit first which would probably take a couple of years? Thanks!!!

You should go ahead and fill out a FAFSA form for the school you want to go to. As far as I know, student loans aren’t that dependent on credit – they are guaranteed by the government instead of by you. I had horrible credit and was still able to take out student loans. The default on your previous student loans is probably the biggest hurdle for you to overcome. You should run a credit report and find out what is going on. Then go in and talk to a financial aid person at the school that you are planning to attend. Don’t give up hope! Student loan companies are definitely more forgiving than other credit agencies.
