You should apply for financial aid because filling out the FAFSA form is completely free. The FAFSA form simply informs you of what you are qualified for. This does not mean that you are forced to accept what they indicate you are qualified for.

Once you know what you are qualified for, your school will put together a Financial Aid package for you, at which time you can choose whether to accept certain loans or not.

One thing to keep in mind; if you would like to receive Federal Grants through Financial Aid, which is money from the government that you do not have to pay back, you still need to fill out a FAFSA form. You can also take out private loans or go through a student loan company to pay for your college if you wish. It is up to you.

If you’re looking to get a loan, I’d strongly suggest filling out the FAFSA because there’s a chance you can get grants (which you don’t have to pay back) and if you end up getting a loan through your FAFSA application, they are very low interest.

that will save you a lot more than if you took a loan out from a bank at a credit-based variable rate.

most schools make you do it to get the parent plus loan, too, but not always.

why wouldnt you want to do the fafsa???
