It is difficult to completely explain the difference in these terms without knowing more about the context. But, in general, TRANSACTIONAL involves a focus on individual events within a larger process. TRANSFORMATIONAL involves a change that remakes the entire process.

As an example, the basic business of a grocery store is to see groceries. The purchases by each customer represent the the TRANSACTIONAL level of the store. When stores introduced self-checkout registers, that would be a change at the TRANSACTIONAL level. The larger process for the store would be the business of selling groceries. If the store changed from just selling food items to become a super-store selling like a Costco or Sam’s Club that would represent a TRANSFORMATIONAL change in the basic business for the store.
