Veggie is correct. Your spell check is probably working fine but it cannot figure out your intentions. So, if you write “their” when you meant “there” or “they’re,” the spell check is not going to find the error. If you write “find” rather than “fine”, again, it will not detect and error.
It can only say a word is incorrect, if it is not in it’s database at all, and even then, the work may not be incorrect.

Well, if you write “pubic” when you meant to write “public” (a common error), your spellcheck isn’t going to catch that, as both are words. If you use the wrong spelling (such as “your” when you should be writing “you’re,” another annoyingly common error), or use an apostrophe in a plural, spellcheck won’t catch that. It will only catch things that are not proper words.
