“dom” is pronounced “dumb”, but it does not mean “dumb”.

“dom” at the end of a word means:

– state or condition

– domain, position, rank

– a group with position, office, or rank

wise+dom means the state of understanding what is good, right and lasting.

king+dom means the domain or area belonging to a king.

It’s just a coincidence that “wisdom” ends in a sound like “dumb”

-dom is a noun-forming suffix. It means:

1) the position, rank, or realm of a (kingdom = realm of a king);

2) the condition of being (martyrdom = condition of being a martyr; also freedom, wisdom, etc.)

3) all those who are (heathendom = all those who are heathen)

even if it were dumb that is not stupid but speechless and since fear of the lord is said to be the beginning of wisdom that might just make sense sometimes .however none of this really is actual but in the eccentric impression of the

arcane side of thinking .

Pretty Momma caught you right off the bat; but the suffix denotes “realm” – sphere of influence. Its Spanish equivalent would be “ismo”.

It’s “dom” as in kingdom, dominate or dominatrix, not as in dumb.
