Favorite Answer

b) stride

When someone strides, there is a connotation of pride in their step. There is a connotation of a commanding presence in one who strides. There is no connotation in standing, walking or running. Someone could run for exercise, excitement, or fear. One does not stride across a room without some sort of swagger to their step.

Stand and stride.

Stand as a noun, i.e. she took the stand, he took a stand, made a last stand. Stand as a noun carries connotations of perseverance and dedication.

Stride as a verb, for reasons the previous poster stated well.
