I think it’s grossly unjust to label humor, catagorize it into ‘tiers.’ A good, well-thought and truly funny pun is better by far than a clever attempt at satire that fails. The bottom line: If it makes someone laugh, then it doesn’t matter how sophiscated the joke is.

Puns are interesting but they dont make you laugh out out as does physical humor. On the other hand, physical humor is the lowest form because it does not take alot of intelligence and creativity.

A lot of puns are really punny (to make a pun). Most physical humor is not humor to me at all.

You’re right. Pratfalls and slap-schtick are much lower comedy that well constructed puns.
