sic is Latin for ‘(as) such’ and significes that what has been written, usually a quote or citation, is as original, without any editing by the author of the piece using the quote.

It means that a grammatical error which was present in the original text (usually used when quoting someone) has been left in tact and not corrected. As in ….she wrote “I want to have you’re (SIC) baby.”

It means the word right before it was a mistake, but not the mistake of the writer. The mistake of whoever the writer was quoting, perhaps.

It means that whoever originally wrote something wrote it incorrectly, and it’s being left that way by the editor.

And sometimes it means ‘sick’. A slang word.
