Nee means BORN in French…so when we use this term, we are giving the person’s maiden name (the name they were born with.

“Nee” is a reference to a person’s maiden name. If Miss Smith married Mr. Brown, she would be Mrs. Brown, nee Smith. It’s French, and literally means “born;” it’s supposed to have an accent mark on the first “e,” but my keyboard isn’t cooperating! 🙂
