Whats the difference between discourse ‘analysis’ and discourse ‘approach’?

help. The definitions don’t seem to be elaborated clear enough from the other discourse questions.

Is discourse approach the way you re interpret the language of the information presented so that is can be understood by a particular audience. Take for example scientific evidence to prove your poiint in an enviroment issue

Not everyone understands the technical terms of science so the information put forward is changed in a more narrative way so that it can be understood by others especially the community.

Can someone please give example on discourse approach/analysis.

There is really no single definition for either.

In general terms discourse analysis (also called discourse studies), is a general term for the various approaches to analyzing written, spoken or sign language use.

Example: the role language in social life

Whereas discourse approach is tends to look at the context and nuances of communication across audiences or even cultures.

Example:Looking at how language impacts communication in the interactions between people from different cultures such as, Western vs Asian intonation patterns.

Discourse is the common term in both of the suggestions you postulate so the difference you’re looking at is the contrast between analysis and approach.

Analysis is the use of analytical thinking to organize the anatomy of your topic in purely logical terms.

Approach in this case is the method used to handle the topic. Approach is something you consider in the beginning of thinking of a topic. Are you going to be critical or comparative? Are you going to be scientific or literary? These are questions of approach.

Analysis is more conclusive. Analysis is taking the points as they logically appear, dissecting, parsing, examining all aspects and coming to a set of related conclusions.

A discourse perspective would be considering or examining your in speech or writing, and not limiting to one perspective. In fact, the root of discourse is Latin for conversation, so not only would you be using language accessible to the common person rather than the specialist, but also you would be eliciting and incorporating different ideas from other speakers or writers.
