From ancient times on various groups built states on these lands. Leleges, Trojans, Colchians, Hattians, Luwians, Hittites, Phrygians, Cimmerians, Lydians, Lycians, Pisidians, Pamphylians, Persians, Celts, Tabals, Meshechs, Greeks, Pelasgians, Assyrians, Romans, Goths, Arabs, Byzantines, Seljuk Turks and Ottomans.

The groups stated until Hittites are considered as the locals.Hittites’ origins are not certain but widely believed that they marched from north. After their defeat by Persians Anatolia was conquered by lots of nations. Lastly after the Roman defeat on 1071 by the Turkish commander Alparslan Turks controlled the location until the current time by Seljuks, Ottomans and Turkish Republic finally.

It’s a loong subject actually i could write for pages. I tried to give a brief view.

Ephesus, was one of the great cities of the Ionian Greeks in Anatolia, located in Lydia where the Cayster River (Kucuk Menderes) flows into the Aegean Sea (in modern day Turkey). It was founded by colonists principally from Athens. The ruins of Ephesus are a major tourist attraction, especially for people travelling to Turkey by cruise ship via the port of Kusadası – Izmir.
