What’s the opposite of “passive”?

Used in this manner:

passive income

“blank” income….. (ive been substituting “blank” with negative…and refer to it as ‘negative income’…I know there is a proper way of saying this)

just want to know the correct term.

thanks

The phrase “PASSIVE INCOME” means money you receive without being actively involved in the enterprise that produces the income. Business investors earn “PASSIVE INCOME”. All they do is provide money for the business to operate with. The investors do not run the business. If you receive income through your active efforts to produce the income that is generally referred to as “EARNED INCOME”.

The opposite of passive is active, but in the case of your sentence I would just say, “Income.” Active income or positive income just doesn’t sound right.

“Earned” is the word you are looking for as far as financial issues are concerned. Passive income is money you have earned thru indirect means (interest etc) or income obtained without any intentional efforts on your part to obtain (inheritence etc)

“Earned” income is the opposite of “passive” income. “Passive” indicates money gained, like interest paid to you for your savings account or investment, for example. “Negative” income means you are spending more than you are bringing in.
