What is the audio equivalent of a palindrome? And where can I find a list of such words or phrases?

For anyone who doesn’t know or didn’t bother to remember (there really isn’t much reason to), a palindrome is a word or phrase that is spelled the same backwards as forwards. For example: “A man, a plan, a canal, Panama!”

What I’m interested in are words and phrases that can be recorded and played in reverse and sound almost exactly the same. I know that these exist because someone showed me one waaaay back in my freshman year of High School.

The proper name is “phonetic palindrome”.

Nice sign

Known

Rare

Z’s

Et cetera. The ones that are spelled differently are more fun.

I don’t know what they are called but I can suggest some palindromes that could suit your requirements.

spell and sound the same:

pop pip pep pup pap tat tit tot tut bob bib did dud dad sis mum mom nan nun wow yay gag gig huh Viv

peep noon deed

I’m sorry in advance if this is not helpful.
