In this context, it means that the person thinks you’re not “hard”, that you’re weak, ineffectual, unable to respond to challenge appropriately.

Well it can mean just what it says….”soft being soft when you touch it….like the baby’s hair is so soft…..but when you call someone “soft”…you mean they are an easy touch….easy to manipulate and put something over on them….when you say the teacher is soft….she lets you get away with things….
