what is fit the mold?
Favorite Answer
My Friend Angie really wants to get married. She wants someone rich, single, and close to death. I had a friend Dave that fit the mold he was rich had cancer and is single.
The expression, which I have hitherto accepted without question (Thank you for this), is invalid. It is the mold, and the mold alone that does the “fitting”. So at best the expression may be interpreted as “you/it differ/s from the product we have become accustomed to expect.”
Example: “As a female corporate executive, she really seems to ‘fit the mold.’ or
“Changing from a nurse to a truck driver doesn’t seem to ‘fit the mold’ for a career change.
“When we picked Mr. Henry for the preschool teacher, we were right: he just fit the mold!”
