What does it mean when doctors say “he almost did a bagel on us” between each other?
The quote was said between a doctor and nurse when a patient was passed out and on his way onto the floor when they caught him and helped him lay down safely onto the floor. My mother in law was trying to figure out if it was slang between co-workers or a common term in the healthcare industry.

I think your mother-in-law may have heard the conversation incorrectly. They may have said “he almost did a vagal on us,” meaning the patient was having a vagal response.
Vagal refers to vaso-vagal syncope (fainting). It is a reflex response that people have under some conditions. It causes the blood pressure to drop suddenly and the person often faints. Some things that can trigger a vaso-vagal response are dehydration, low blood pressure with abrupt sitting or standing, pain or extreme stress.
