What does ‘Be committed to an idea’ mean?
I’m studying English in a college in China. And I don’t know the meaning of the phrase above I came upon just now. I’d appreciate it if you’d explain it to me.
Thanks in advance!

It means that the person will do anything to make the idea happen or to support it (to support the idea).
For example: I will be committed to an idea that put women in the same place with men.
It means I will agree to every thing that will support women be in the same class with men.

It depends on the context, but the likeliest meaning is that a person who has an idea or belief, must hold on to it and continue to believe in it, even if it is sometimes difficult.
