The very best thing that I can recommend to ANYONE to improve spelling and grammar is to READ. You can’t learn grammar if you don’t hear it, and you can’t learn spelling if you don’t SEE the words. Reading can be fun – you don’t have to read anything “serious” to learn words; just read whatever suits you – novels, biographies, whatever you like, but READ.

I also suggest using http://www.dictionary.com. It’s a very good site for learning the meanings of words, but more importantly in your case, it can take a misspelled word, and suggest things that you *might* have meant to give you the correct spelling.

I strongly urge that you do not rely too much on a spell-checker. While they can be helpful, they can also help you make some THOROUGHLY ridiculous spelling errors that stand out like a sore thumb. Find a person to read over your work if you are in doubt.

Good luck!

CorrectEnglish is writing enhancement software that checks your grammar, style, development, and word choices to provide you with comprehensive writing help and feedback. It can be used either as a plug-in to MS Word and Outlook or as an independent word processor. There are several versions available based on the kind of writing you’ll be doing including a Business package which may best meet your needs as you are looking to start your own business.

For full disclosure, I do work for the company, but as this is exactly what the software is designed for, I thought it worth posting.

More info is available at http://www.correctenglish.com/

Use spell check get a spelling dictionary.

Get a book entitled “Eats Shoots and Leaves”. (Seriously)

Correct spelling and proper grammar are all a matter of rote memorization.

Check with a teacher about “run-on” sentences. Your question is a classic example. It ought to be six sentences.

Buy MS Office, and use spell check often. Have an employee or friend proofread, as well.

By the way, its Where and grammar.

You can’t have a crash course in spelling and grammar, because there wouldn’t be enough time to learn it. I recommend you get a knowledgeable assistant to handle your public contacts.
