In theory, a jury of peers would involve people of same social class, race, and age group.

In reality, it is whoever makes it through several rounds of questions regarding morality and even the death penalty and whether or not the lawyers believe the juror could be sympathetic to their side.

Though my father told me once where he and 20-something other 40+ year old white men were in a room waiting for the jury selection to begin, they were the only ones in that room since they were all ones that had delayed their jury selection by several days for work or personal reasons.

Over 20 minutes, several young offenders were walked by a window that looked into the waiting room.

Most took plea bargains, 1 went for trial by judge.

Just because a person is a Senior doesn’t mean they aren’t of the same legal status, nor does it mean they couldn’t be equal to another in abilities, qualifications, background and social status. The only one I’ll give you is the age issue. Realize that wisdom and experience come with age. Do you know how hard that would be to find on a jury full of 20 year olds with as much wisdom and experience as us “Seniors” have?
