the new barclaycard ad for oyster card spells “londoner” with lower case “l” not an “L” is this correct?

my wife and i disagreed over whether it should have a capital. ie Londoner (my view)

or whether as it was about people living in London not the city itself it should be lower case (wife’s view)

who is right?

also – 2nd question! why do they have a “/” at the end of the sentence. isnt that just weird?!

L should be capitalized. A person who lives in a city deserves a capital letter. Yes, the / is weird.

It should be capitalized. Londoner is a proper noun, as are most words derived from the name of a city or other location, like New Yorker, East Ender, English.

Without seeing the ad, I can’t tell you why there’s a / at the end of the sentence.

perhaps because of the fact theist is declared otherwise to atheist. The atheist makes the ei sound like “e” somewhat of “a” yet i’m not completely helpful that it quite is the reason. maybe this is genuine, as creatrix shows, that atheists are for some reason extra effective spellers. If it have been it would quite bring about atheist being spelt incorrectly extra generally as atheists use the be conscious theist maximum generally on an identical time as anybody makes use of the be conscious atheist.

“L” should be capitalized because it is a proper noun.. Like “A” in American or “F” in Filipino
