should we answer simple homeworks?

i think students here should first learn how to research for answers. those questions having answers that can be found in books and in the World Wide Web should not be answered.

or maybe we can provide links to Web sites where they could find the answers.

I think a question worth asking is usually worth answering. Often times understanding depends on the way the information is presented as much as the information itself. The asker may have looked at a link and not comprehended (especially those to whom English is a second language). Even in America, the English language seems to become more of an unsolved mystery with each generation. I agree there are kids who cheat on their homework. They will learn nothing (except how to be a cheat) no matter how they go about it. It’s worth pointing out as you have done, but the responsibility remains with them, not us. That’s my view anyway.

I think you should remember that what appears simple to you, may well appear complex to a child. I (usually) restrict myself to mathematics and physics questions, and find it a real challenge to construct an answer which is both correct and easily understood.

I don`t really understand this business about should we / shouldn`t we answer questions. It`s a resource as much as the w.w.w., and books.

There are some children who abuse the system: there always will be, but, we`re adults and should be able to sort the genuine from the abusers, and not answer those who post all their homework on here.

If you consider the total amount of homework which is set globally daily, then the proportion of it which surfaces on here is minimal, so it`s a little bit stupid to suggest that we`re doing the whole world`s homework !

Often the person asking has read the textbook answer or tried to work the problem without sucess. Some have no parent at home to ask with both parents pulling in paychecks or in the case of some subjects the parents have not got a clue. I hope all those who answer will be kind enough to list their sources so the student can go look at the origninal site.

I have to ask for help in 5th grade math simply because my 66 year old brain is rusty and the wiring is crumbling and my grandson thinks I know EVERYTHING.

I think homework Questions should not be allowed. Those of us from the older generations had to find our own answers through research or attention in the class room. Getting the answers from yahoo Answers is not helping the student to research. It is just making then lazy.

You sound like a know it all which is fine but you still need to conform to the tasks at hand.

Suggesting links is just being lazy. They want you to use your mind and not become mindless like so many people are today.

Soil is renewable because of humus (it is useless organic and organic count number) and minerals, and rock. Air is carbon, nitrogen and different stuff it is renewable. Water is an effortless byproduct of chemical reactions, so as it is renewable. Technically the sunlight is only hydrogen and helium and that it renews itself,so image voltaic is seen a renewable source in the adventure that your speaking about going eco-friendly. perchance soil is seen non-renewable because it takes so long… no longer certain… sorry!

I could not agree with you more. I am tired of doing other peoples homework. I swear most of them do not even own a dictionary. And if they do, they are too lazy to use it, because they know that some poor sap will answer their questions on Y/A. BUT I AM AS MAD AS HELL AND I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that you should answer what you want and let everyone else decide what is best for them to answer
