Pro- means before, ahead of, etc. The -vide comes from “videre,” which means “to see.” Basically the word means “look ahead.” If something has been provided, it has been prepared or procured beforehand, a result of looking ahead. It also means to take measures with due foresight.

Do your own homework. Try dictionary.com or etymonline.com before Yahoo!Answers. This way you’ll know how to find stuff out on your own, which is what an education is really about.

But you’re welcome.

I can’t understand your question at all. Are you sure you’re studying English? Have you ever taken English previous to this?

1407, from L. providere “look ahead, prepare, supply,” from pro- “ahead” + videre “to see” (see vision).

Good luck!
