The process of throwing up water and food into the nostrils, primarily due to coughing, hiccups, talking or similar activities during eating. This normally makes it difficult to breathe and the food irritates the tract in the nose and is accompanied by chest discomfort and watering of the eyes. It can be very discomforting if the food is spicy, as it will irritate the lining of the easophagus (wind pipe), especially near the nostrils. Small children will find it difficult to breathe and in some cases there will be vomitting. Phew! such a long process is shortened in Tamil into 2 words 🙂
