Please tell me which word is correct to use;?

I am telling someone I appreciate them being so compassionste to how I feel which word would be grammatically correct in this sentence. I thik it has to be in agreement with the verb considering? Would It be proper grammar to use “showed ” or “have shown”? Please reply ASAP with source cited if possible. Would like writers and teachers and people with excellent grammar to answer, thanks. I DON’Tt want to change any other wording at all in sentence! also would it be grammatically correct to use a comma rather than a semi-colon after ideas?

Don’t want to revise sentence I am happy now. Just want you to know what sentence will go before it to help with what grammar to use in second sentence.

‘Have shown’ is better. If I wrote ‘showed’ in an essay at uni, my tutors would correct it anyway or i’d get marked down.

First of all you have the same thing written for both sentences, however what you have written would be correct. Shown not Showed.
