There are three main groups of the “Wikipedia is unreliable” crowd that I’ve seen. 1: People who don’t want Wikipedia to work. For example, authors of encyclopedias. It is in their best interest to spread the rumor that everything on Wikipedia is wrong. They don’t believe it – they just spread it. 2: The ignorant. These people claim that since anyone can edit Wikipedia, it must be full of garbage. They themselves don’t really know much about WIkipedia. They just assume they understand it and spread the rumor through ignorance. If they spent time learning how Wikipedia works, they would change their mind. 3: There are those who hate Wikipedia primarily because they have been unable to fill it with garbage. These people know that Wikipedia doesn’t allow garbage because they were kept from adding garbage to it. They spread the rumor because they hate Wikipedia and they don’t want anyone else to use it.

Wikipedia is A free content, multilingual encyclopedia written collaboratively by contributors around the world. The site is a Wiki – anybody can edit and add to an article. Offers quick understanding on controversial issues. Strong in current affairs.
