It would be easier to help if you gave more information, such as the story, type of argument, what was discussed in class in terms of this assignment, etc. But basically he means that he wants you to take a stand on some aspect of the story, and defend your opinion or stand.

What is your point of view on certain aspect of the passage?
An argumentive paper consist of,
1. Strictly stating the author’s point of view without using your personal opinion.
2. State your own opinion about the author’s point of view. Do you agree or Disagree with the author?
3. Explain your reasons for disagreeing or agreeing. Include your references and sources.
4. Conclusion and recomendations.
