Is this sentence correct?
Your total savings are $10.00.
As tempted as I am to change the “are” to “is”, I’ve found that “are” is correct.
Does anyone have any issue with that?
What about the use of “total”? Does that change the meaning of the word “savings”?
Thanks in advance!

If the line had begun “The total of your savings” you should use “is”, thus:- The total of your savings is $10.00.
You do that because in this case the word “total” is the subject and the subject is singular. The associated verb must, therefore, also be singular.
In the line of your question, the subject is the word “savings” , which is plural. The associated verb must, therefore, also be plural.
(The word “total” in this case is an adjective qualifying the noun “savings”.)
“your savings are $10.00”
so now think of it this way, which sounds right::
“your savings ARE $10.00”
or
“your savings IS $10.00”
i would think that since “savings” has an “s” at the end, making it plural, you would have to use the plural verb “are”
so yes it is correct you should use “are”
i hope that helps.. 🙂
