Smokers have a higher rate of getting lung cancer than those who don’t smoke .
You are comparing between the two-
smokers & non-smokers will be better than smokers & those who don’t do.
Second way is-
Persons who smoke have a higher rate of getting lung cancer than those who don’t.
Smokers have a higher rate of lung cancer than non-smokers.
or
Smokers have a higher chance of getting lung cancer than non-smokers.
some people who smoke die of lung cancer but it is a common fact that more people who dont smoke die of lung cancer than those who do. Smokers smoke all day so it doesnt affect them when they breathe in smoke around them. but people who dont smoke arent used to breathing in smoke so it affects them more. That’s my answer, hope it helps.
also, IMO it doesnt really sound right with the “do” at the end, other than that it sounds perfect.
