A simile is a comparison of two unlike things, typically marked by use of “like”, “as”, “than”, or “resembles”. Examples may include “the snow was as thick as a blanket”, or “she was as smart as a crow”, or the usage of emotions similes like “madder than a bull” “fast like a cheetah”. Your example does not meet this definition.

I am as good a swimmer as a stone; I always sink. That would be a simili.

Yepp it is definitely a simile. You feel as though you are falling in the ocean, but it is just a figurative speech and not literal, hence it is a simile. It is also a simile because there is the presence of the word “like”.

Anyway, I recognize the lyrics. It’s from the song “Into The Ocean” by Blue October right? Ok, good luck for your project! 🙂

“swimming is like falling in the ocean” is a simile. I don’t think “feels like” comparisons count as similes, but I could very well be wrong.

I want to swim away but don’t know how. I’m like a chunk of driftwood, tossed by the waves. Hope this helps.

No, you are not comparing anything to anything. You are just telling how it feels.
