Is there a term for a word that decribes a group of words? (i.e. the word superlative is a superlative)?

Well, I have heard of a torrent of words, which is what you get from somebody who is running off at the mouth.

it would really depend on what you mean by ‘a group of words’. It could be ‘category’ if ‘groups of words’ were things like nouns, adjectives, etc. Or it could be ‘semantic field’ if ‘groups of words’ were things like ‘words having to do with eating’.
