I want to expand my vocabulary. Are there any audio CD/Files out there?
I’m 23 years old and about to go into the real world. I’am a business major and I will be dealing with a lot of top notch executives. I need to expand my vocabulary just a bit more.
I know what a lot of words and their meanings, but I can never apply them! I always tell myself to use alternate words, but when I’m having a normal convo it never occurs to me.
So I think listening to and audio file or cd that explains words, for example epiphany instead of “i had a realization”, would help a lot. I travel a lot so maybe I can listen to my iPod or car stereo and learn!
Please help!

Don’t limit yourself to only “educational” products…try good daily crossword puzzles (NY Times kind)–with thesaurus & dictionary in hand to get the tougher answers. If you continue daily, you’ll see these words & clues repeated often–makes them easy to remember & soon become comfortable alternatives. Invest in the small square desk calendars with the “Word of the Day”–a VP turned me on to these…every day has a word, it’s pronunciation & forms, with it’s meaning(s) & examples of use–your challenge is to use this new word at least 3x that day, even if you have to create a situation or conversation to do so. I had a friend in a different company division who also had one of these, only different than mine…we shared our words (1x down)…we actually made quite the office game of this after a time without even trying, which lightened up stagnant atmospheres…kept the brains cookin’.
Anyway, I really think it’s too enjoyable a quest to not have fun with it…Good Journey!!!
