I need to find a word to describe something that I am trying to say.?

I want to describe a person that is stuck in the present and not thinking about the future. That is, the person is not prepared/ not ready for the consequences or implications of her actions now in the future.

She’s not stuck in the present she’s living the present without worrying about the future which a lot of people do.

They are living with their head in the sand, afraid to see what’s above them.

Personally, I like this phrase from “The Family Circus”: Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a GIFT. That’s why it’s called the present.”

I don’t have a word but, a phrase…. like the fabled grasshopper.

Non-strategic? (maybe?)

Oblivious?

Inconsiderate?

Self-centered?

These are some of the things I come up with when I think of such a person.

I call these kinds of people “sheep”. They just meander through life, eating what they are fed, going where they’re told to go, doing what they’re told to do no matter how inane, challenging and questioning nothing, all they way to the slaughterhouse.

I usually refer to those people as Grasshoppers (from the fable about the grasshopper and the ants).
