I heard a word I liked on radio 4 on Monday morning.?

The news item was about falling share prices in some company or other and the guy said that traders could be ?????? with companies that keep issuing profit warnings. He meant that they would be merciless and relentless in their approach. Hostile and unforgiving were also synonyms that sprang to mind.

However, I’ve forgotten the word, any ideas. I have a fairly extensive vocabulary and it is a word I hadnt heard before, so not something in common usage. 4or5 syllables I think

Guessing here:

inhospitable, disassociative, discontinuous, disciplinarian, discerning (too short and you probably know all these, anyway), but onward: discretionary, disparaging, disencumbered, disenfranchised, disestablished, transubstantiate, act transmutably, transmogrify (is a bit fantastic), transitionary, inexorable, unrelenting, unmitigated and etc. because…

to tell you the truth, I’m not at all sure why I’m knocking my head against the brick wall of ideas and dictionary perusing when someone has undoubtedly given you a list a mile long from an instant source right there to copy and paste. Gets me every time!
