I think you copied it and pasted it wrong. I have seen this before and usually one of the letters are missing, or out of roder (order)

I have seen this question many times before, and there are lots of different ways it is posted.

Some error’s are at the begging of the question when they ask “Whats wrong?” when it should be “What’s wrong?”, or “Find the error. Its impossible!” when it should be “Find the error. It’s impossible!”.

Another is that some are posted with a “O0O” the second “O” is a zero.

Other’s assume that the way they have all the letters capitalized is also a error due to the fact that when we were taught the alphabet, we weren’t taught it in capital letters it was first taught to us like this “a b c d” etc. and then like this “Aa Bb Cc Dd” etc.

So Saying that there is at least 5 different posting of this same question out there, it has clearly been altered from it’s original version if this in fact was an exact question. So there’s no telling what the true error is if we don’t have the exact question that was asked in the first place.

But usually if the question includes the word “Impossible” It’s usually correct and because you don’t want to believe it is indeed impossible, you keep searching for something you will never find. Impossible = Not Possible. So stop trying to kill yourself finding the correct answer.

the answer is one of two things.

1) the letter “I” is not the letter “I” but instead a similar character. my eyes are probably playing tricks on me, but it looks like the letter “I” is smaller than the other letters.

2) OR… there is actually no error, which is why 80% of UCSD students could not find it. meaning the other 20% probably noticed that there was no error.

So here are my thoughts.

First off, if it’s *impossible* to find an error, then there is no error.

Secondly, if it is *impossible* to find the error, then how did 20% of UCSD students find that error?

Thirdly, therefore, it is likely that the error is not in the list of letters, but in the falacious statement that prefaces the list.

The error is not in the sequence of letters, but actually in the first sentence “Find the error. It’s impossible!”

Because it is IMPOSSIBLE to find, there is truly no error. The word impossible implies that it is NOT POSSIBLE for any one to find the error. Therein lies the error. The fact that there is no error existing at all creates the impossibility.

I believe that you’re supposed to literally find the phrase “the error”, which is in the first line of text above all the repeated letters.

AAA stands for the American Automobile Association.

BBB stands for the Better Business Bureau.

CCC stands for the Civilian Conservation Corps.

DDD stands for … oh, hell, I give up.

Or: It may be impossible to find the error because there isn’t one, hence “impossible.”
