How long should someone of average intelligence study for the GMAT?

I plan on taking it in October or November and have been studying intensely for the past week. I plan on spending about 10-15 hrs. a week and more on the weekend until I take it. I’m not a genius, not an idiot and am mediocre when it comes to standardized tests. I need to score a 600-650. The material feels fairly comfortable after a week, but I’m only using a Princeton Review book and just doing a ton of practice problems. I’ll probably take a diagnostic test and a few practice tests online. Should that be enough?

That sounds like a serious regimen and should do you good if you follow it.

However, standardized testing is not so much about knowing the material as much as it is about knowing how to take the test.

I consider myself as a pretty smart person, but I could never dream of getting over a 1500 on the SAT (when it was out of 1600), but I knew test taking techniques, and that helped me answer questions very quickly so i could spend more time on the portions that gave me trouble.

Learn how to take the test and your score will be much higher than simply knowing the material.

Princeton assessment’s Cracking the …. are a solid series. I additionally propose The respectable handbook to The GMAT. From there, you will comprehend in case you like further components (i.e. prep instructions etc…) do no longer ignore to take 2-4 simulations previously the acual examination.

It seems like you already have a good game plan. I literally started studying for the gmat a month and a half before I took it and scored 550. Thankfully I had a really good undergrad GPA and I got into all 5 graduate schools I applied to. they weren’t first tier schools but they are all respected programs. I really think you got it covered. You’re already ahead of the game.

Should be but stop cramming a couple of days before the test and just relax. I think the practice tests are the best bet.

Take more practice tests. I think your plan is good otherwise.
