How do you pronounce ‘chrysocolla’?

Chrysocolla is a blue-green and black stone. I’ve looked around the net, but most often the pronunciation for the ‘o’, the part I am having trouble pronouncing, is listed as ‘col’ for that syllable. I’m not sure if it is a long or short ‘o’ or what? The double consonants after the ‘o’ make me think it is a short vowel, but I’m used to saying it like “cry-so-coal-a” with a long vowel, because I’ve never heard it said before. Help is much appreciated!

I would pronouce it “kris-oh-coll-ah”…. (second o I say as short) …I read your details and see how it can be a problem. It’s not in my dicitonary and I go by what I learned in one heck of a lot of English courses, yet they don’t always cover Latin or Greek, often used in scientific terms… but I’d say it the way I did with fair confidence, and you should be confident too, til we both learn otherwise.

kri-soh-KOHL-ah is what it sounds like at this website, where you can also hear it pronounced – so yes, a long OH sound:

Hope this helps!
