How come nobody can spell or speak properly on Answers?

(wink, wink – **tongue pushed firmly into cheek!**)
I do know just exactly what you mean though. OK, everyone can make a typo, it happens but some people are either too thick to know any different or just too darned lazy to care!
There was a question the other day which I had to read a couple of times due to the fact that one particular word was spelled wrong twice and it threw me! The word was “sign” but the idiot who posted the question had put “sing”. So, you think, oh well, it was just a typing error and carry on. That is, until you get to the next sentence and there it is again! Duh! Get back to school, moron!
However,
I spell correctly, I even use polysyllabic words and make sure that my punctuation is above reproach. What “nobody”? I am somebody, and while you mention it – I do also get irritated when these questioners use textese or telespeak.
But I am powerless over them, and even I sometimes write them an answer. i am old enough to be most of youse grandma.
Be blessed today.
Most can’t or don’t.
What they’re taught in public lawschools isnot sacientific thought, isn’t truelanguage and isn’t suitab for expressing thoughts and discoveries concerning reality.
There are many reason why this is so.
Spelling is unimportant relatively. But using real actor nouns as doers of actions matters very much; the “there is” and other such onstructions exist so that one can talk about a fact without treating it as an active example of smeone’s creative action when no such actor exists.
“There is a gas station on the corner of 30th and Park.”
“Terrorists killed 30 people last night in Iraq.” (Not “Violence broke out again last night in Iraq etc.)
For example:
wat or wot for what;
off for of; of for off;
write for right, rite for right,
right for rite, rite for write;
The list is endless. I blame laziness, lax standards, television, video game culture, ineffective testing, texting, verbal shorthand as well as the written kind, poor/nil reading skills. And here, I try to be consistent in NOT providing the requested answer, but rather I tell them to use a Yahoo, Google or other search engine (heck, they’re ALREADY on the Internet!) and to type in ‘dictionary’ or ‘thesaurus’ or whatever relevant resource will help THEM to get the answer, rather than A, waiting here for an answer; and B, getting a bunch of half-assed, stupid and/or wrong answers…oh, maybe a correct answer occasionally, too…”my bad!” Grrrrrrrr.
I mean it’s slightly annoying but this is a game and I’m not checking to make sure that every sentence I’m writing is perfectly punctuated. Nor am I checking everybody elses.
I do that all day in the classroom,
To me this is like talking on the phone or text messaging. I’m not writing a term paper or a dissertation.
Laziness.
Just kidding … it’s extremely annoying, but be prepared for some flames from people who inexplicably get offended by your pointing it out.
