Then or than, impact instead of affect.

To, too, or two?

skittish or “skiddish”?

Where, ware, wear.

At least we have noone to blame!

…but public schools.

If people aren’t taught spelling, they go with phonetics.

Sloppy speech habits seem to have begun about the time that schools………..

oooops…I almost said something definately non-PC.

Maybe you should be a teacher since it bothers you so much. That way you can insure that all of YOUR students understand that YOU’RE really into them knowing the differnece between you’re and your. I mean yeah it is wrong, but geez.

If it’s not an essay, research paper, or in a publication… who really cares.

Yes, it annoys me almost more than any other commonly made mistake. And it’s becoming more and more prevalent, which is alarming. Two other commonly seen and equally ignorant mistakes are the confusion and misuse of “they’re/their”

and “it’s/its”——–maddening!

Yes it does. Anyone could get it correct if they talked it out such as saying “you are” going to the store. “Your” bike is a great color. No one would say “you are bike is a great color.”
