Just my opinion, but “as graceful as the morning mist,” isn’t exactly smooth either. I can’t articulate the rule that refers to comparison of like things, but morning mist isn’t usually seen as graceful. that’s like saying the sound was like that of a rusty, swinging gate. You can imagine the sound in your brain immediately. But if you say the sound was like the breathing of a buffalo, it’s not very clear.
If you have the latitude to change, I would recommend saying as graceful as a ballarina, or something well known as being graceful…Just my humble opinion.

It means you are very graceful. If you have watched the morning mist it sorta floats or glides and that is graceful.
