Do you use the phrase “Cool beans”?
If so, what compels you to use it? I don’t like it. I don’t get the attraction. Explain.

That phrase was started several years ago and I didn’t like it then so I get really annoyed when I still hear people periodically use it…

I use it very sparingly when I am particularly pleased with the outcome of a situation or information that I’ve just received. I don’t know how or when exactly I picked it up but it means something to others when I use it because I so rarely say it. Most people overuse it or say it with the wrong tone of voice so it comes across wrong. Even most of the previous answerers say they use it in a totally different context than I do.

I use it all the time. I don’t know where exactly I picked it up. I always seem to use it when I am settling an argument or dispute for the most part. I’m the only person I know who uses the phrase.

I’ve used it, though not often – when I was in high school it was very popular saying. It’s just used instead of saying “that’s cool” or something equivalent- people generally don’t think about it when they say it- it’s more of just a commentary on whatever is being said in the conversation.

I use it. I’ve just used it ever since I was a kid & I never stopped. It’s like I can’t stop myself from saying it. Normally I say it after someone says something to tick me off. I don’t want them to know they’ve ticked me off, so I say cool beans.

No but I use an even worse one, “top banana”, picked up from my friend and it has stuck grrrr

I use it when ever I feel like it, I don’t know why. It’s just one of things you either use or don’t, simple as that.
