Btw, “Katrina,” a top-200 name in the U.S. in the 1990s (about one in a thousand babies were given the name), was blown from #246 in 2005 to #382 in 2006, according to the Social Security Administration. It first appeared among the top 1000 girls’ names in 1945, and peaked in popularity in the 80s, at #101 for that decade.
(Before Hurricane Katrina, there was Camille in ’69 … and that year and the next, Camille rode a 20-year-high in popularity as a girl’s name.)
