do middle school grades matter for college?
my mom always makes a big deal if i get a C on my report card, im in 8th grade (one year till high school) and i dont think they matter for college, ive asked a few people in high school and they say middle school was just getting you prepared for high school, so the main quesiton is do middle school grades really matter for college?

No, they do not matter at all. You have to submit high school transcripts with most college applications. You NEVER have to submit middle school transcripts. You could make it through middle school on all D’s and no college admissions office would ever know.

Yes because if you get good grades in middle school, you get into programs in high school which will help u get into a better college

No, middle school grades do not matter for college, they matter for high school. Middle school is a prep for high school. If you didn t do good in middle school, then you can always improve in high school; even though high school is a lot more challenging.

no grades from middle school do not go to colleges but it is still good to have good grades but a C is not that bad it will just give you a lower GPA, it is good to have good grades in middle school it just prepares you better for high school and it shows you are a good student and that you study, they look more at high school grades for college that is how you can get scholarships

No. Colleges do not look at your transcripts before high school. But your mom isn’t wrong. Developing good study habits early is important. If you settle for so so grades now, when you get to high school and there’s so much more work and it’s so much harder, it will be a lot tougher for you to develop the discipline to get good grades if you haven’t already. Why not do your best?

well colleges will probably not directly look at your middle school report card, but the grades you get in middle school help determine what classes you will be taking in highschool. if you get poor middle school grades, you may have to retake a class which will drop you below other students, and that is not impressive to colleges.

NO. but in high school colleges will look at your transcript and the way you act/do in middle school WILL have a factor on your high school education. Positive or Negative. You choose, start now and think of how you want to do in high school

no college doesnt look at grades from middle school the only look at grades in high school so if you want a good grade in high school work hard

If you have really bad grades in middle school it may be hard to understand high school. you will have to try harder. So it doesn’t matter in the way of getting in or accepted but it will matter in your ability to learn more easily.

i know for a complete fact that middle school grades DO NOT count for college… but kids try to do their best because a lot of what you learn in middle school is a pre requict for high school (basically what u learn in middle school will help you for high school) but yeah if u didn’t do so well in middle school it is ok… step it up in high school and good luck =)
