Cat Problem?
Anyway my questions are:
-do cats go find a solitary place to die? If you had a cat that died of old age, how did it happen?
-should i bring it to the vet? My worry being that in my experience vets are quick to opt for the “put it down” route.
– should i be concerned?

Yes, kitties do try to find a place of solitude, when ill or dying.
When in the house, does kitty look for a quite, cool place, not look at you, and turn his back to you?
I had a kitty with cancer. I loved him dearly, and he knew it.
I’m certain it caused him mental anguish to know how hurt I would feel without him.
I tried all the treatments I could, but finally took him to the vet to have him put to sleep – to end his pain, both mental and physical.
Before he died, he was able to finally relax, and not be in pain.
It helped me to know that it was the right thing to do – for him -even though my anguish in losing him is still present, years later.
He was as a child to me.
Via con dios, my love.
I have never taken an animal to the vet for a truly life threatening illness, where it wasn’t just buying me the time I needed for closure.
As hard as it is, try just to think of kitties welfare.
Don’t forget that, if you had another animal who was close, that they will need help with their loss, too.
Depression happens to all our pets – not just humans.
