What did you withdraw from your experiments and activities?

……I know this, because I’m not French…..I am, American!

Retire’….in the meaning means finished….and then the meaning of finished is better placed as “withdraw” to make the translation proper. Thus, “retire” means “withdraw”

Examples:

The old man did retired from his job! (He’s not working)

The old man did finished his job! (He’s not working)

The old man did withdraw from his job! (He’s not working)

They all mean the same…….

It literally means “What have you retired of/from your ….” It seems that either the “qu” should go or “retire” should be changed to something else.

Edit -For some reason this question lingered long after I had answered it. I turned my gaze from the adjective to the verb “retirer”, and discovered that among its many meanings is “remember”. Voila!
